15th Anniversary GeoCache Contest

ILGISA is holding a geocaching contest to help celebrate its 15th anniversary. The geocaches to for this contest are located near places of significance in ILGISA history. ILGISA has been around for 15 years so we have picked 15 existing caches spread throughout Illinois near places of significance to ILGISA. The winner will be the first person to find all 15 caches or, in the event that no one finds all the caches, the person who finds the most caches. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Fall 2010 Presentation, Lightning Talk, Poster Submissions Open til Aug 27

The Fall 2010 Conference Committee is now soliciting submissions for the October 20-21, 2010 Fall Conference. Please consider submitting one of the following: Paper Presentation (Student or Professional) Poster (Student or Professional) Panel Applications are now being taken through to August 27, 2010.

Board Nominations Open til Aug 27

The ILGISA Nominating Committee is soliciting names of persons to be considered for election by the ILGISA membership this fall to serve during the 2010-2011 membership year. Individuals may nominate themselves or someone else for one of these positions. The Nominating Committee will select from those names received to propose a slate of candidates. The endorsed candidates’ names and picture will be placed on the ballot, which will be emailed to the membership so that everyone will have the ballot at least 30 days before our Annual Meeting on October 21, 2010.

Award Nominations Open til Aug 27

Each year the Illinois GIS Association Honors Committee presents two awards during the annual Fall Conference: the Dahlberg and Service awards. Additionally, ILGISA will offer the new Richard Hilton Distinguished Collaboration Award this year. All award submissions will be verified by a telephone call by the Executive Director of ILGISA and/or the Chair of the Honors Committee. The ILGISA Service Award is presented to an individual or organization, which has provided exemplary professional service or support to the GIS Community. The ILGISA Dahlberg Award is presented to an individual who has made a significant contribution to the development and advancement of geographic information systems. Please consider nominating a worthy individual. Nominations due by August 27, 2010. Awards will be presented at the ILGISA 2010 Fall Conference, October 20-21, 2010.
